WHO IS UNCLE DAVE?
Company founder David Llewellyn has worked for one of the leading pet care companies in the East Bay for the past three-and-a-half years. He has a business license and is fully insured by The Hartford Insurance.
WHAT MAKES HIM SPECIAL?
Uncle Dave has had a lifelong passion for animals. He treats all his canine clients with kindness and compassion and is committed to making sure every dog has his day on every outing. He attended dogTec Academy in San Francisco and has taken his canine clients on more than 1,800 hikes per year throughout the East Bay area. He creates a totally immersive hiking experience with your pups while teaching them social manners on the trail.
HOW DOES MY PET BECOME UNCLE DAVE'S CLIENT?
If you’re interested in having Uncle Dave take your dog on hiking adventures, the first step is to set up an appointment for a 30-minute in-home intake meeting at your convenience. The goal of this meeting is for us to get acquainted with you and your pooch, and answer any questions you may have.
WHAT'S REQUIRED FOR MY DOG TO GO ON A HIKE?
Your dog must by spayed or neutered, and must be licensed in your city of residence in order to go on group hikes. Your dog must have a valid rabies vaccine certificate and must be up-to-date on distemper and other shots, as well as flea and tick medication.
HOW DO I KNOW MY PET WILL BE SAFE?
Uncle Dave is bonded and has a permit to hike dogs in any of the East Bay Regional Park districts. He’ll take no more than six dogs on a hike at a time, ensuring that each dog gets his full attention while hiking and frolicking with canine pals.
CAN MY DOG BE ON LEASH?
We accommodate each dog’s needs on a one-to-one basis and will do what is best for your beloved pal. Private walks are also an option depending on your pet’s needs.
WHAT IS A SOLO / DROP-IN VISIT?
We offer in-home visits for your dog or cat. Services for dogs may include walking, feeding, and interaction. Services for cats include feeding, playtime, quiet companionship, and litter box cleaning.
HOW DOES MY DOG GET TO AND FROM THE TRAIL?
Your dog will be picked up at your home and transported to one of the off-leash trails in the East Bay Regional Park District. He or she will hike with no more than five canine friends at a time. After our 60-minute hike is done, your dog will be returned home, tired and happy.
HOW LONG WILL MY DOG BE AWAY FROM HOME?
On average, your dog will be out and about for one-and-a-half to three hours, depending on location and order of pickup. This includes a full 60-minute hike.
WHICH PARKS WILL MY DOG VISIT?
Hikes are conducted on a variety of trails, including Redwood Regional Park, Leona Canyon, Anthony Chabot Regional Park, and Sibley Regional Preserve.
